Waldo Walter Buck joined the Asbury M. E. Church on December 16, 1897. Rev. L. L. Cherrington was the pastor. Waldo was Sunday School Superintendent at Asbury for several years, then Superintendent at Buysville Methodist Church. He graduated from Guysville High School on April 29, 1908 (there were no girls in the class and only four boys: Harry Hulbert, Harry Bean, Guy Pierce and Waldo W. Buck). Waldo taught one term of school (1909-10) at Millfield, Ohio. He was a farmer for several years. Rural mail carrier since April 2, 1917. Soldier during World War I, Col. A 361 Inf. 91 Div. Served in England, France and Belgium from July 22, 1918 to April 30, 1919. Moved family and parents from the farm to Guysville, Ohio on October 23, 1923. Waldo and family attended the Century of Progress (World's Fair) at Chicago, Ill., the week of August 22, 1934. He married Edna Florence Burleigh and they had the following children:
1) Wayne Ervin Buck
----A T/5 Corporal during World War II, from July 2, 1945 to Sept. 6, 1946. Graduated from Rome High School, Stewart, Ohio, in 1936 and from Ohio University in Athens on June, 1941. Built a midget racing car. He was Principal of Roseville High School, Roseville, Ohio.
----He married his first wife, Mary E. Winner, and they had no children. His second wife was Janette Thompson Bloom of Amesville, Ohio. She was a graduate of Ohio University. They were married July 24, 1947 and they had one son: Roger Wayne Buck.
2) Berneta Lurene Buck Thomas
----A 1940 graduate of Rome High School, Stewart Ohio. Attended Nurses' Training School at Camden Clark Hospital, Parkersburg, West Virginia. She was a clerk in Chapman Brothers General Store in Guysville and in Kroger Co. store in Athens, Ohio. Nurse in the office of Cr. C. R. Hoskings, Eye, Ear and Throat Specialist, Athens, Ohio.
----She married Woodrow W. Thomas of Zaleske, Ohio on April 23, 1944. He was a Baltimore & Ohio Railroad Ticket Agent in Athens, Ohio. They had one child: David Lee Thomas
3) Thelma Eleanor Buck Rhoads
----She graduated from Rome High School and Ohio State University. She was a clerk at the Cornwell Jewelry Store and the Bank of Athens, Athens, Ohio; private secretary at Batelle Memorial Institute, Columbus Ohio. She married Charles A. Rhoads of Washington Court House, Ohio. He served in the U.S. Navy from April 24, 1944, to June 2, 1946, during World War II, aboard the U. S. West Point (became the luxury liner "America"). He graduated from Ohio University in 1948 and was a student of Optometry at Ohio State University, Columbus, Ohio. They had no children.
