Ernest "Ernie" LaVern Lueck, 74, of Oak Grove, died June 22, 2005, at John Knox Village Care Center in Lee's Summit. Born Sept. 17, 1930, in Concordia, he was the son of the late Walter Carl Lueck and R.G. Katherine Smith Lueck.

On March 11, 1977, in Oak Grove, he married Helen Marlene Carter McCarty, who survives of the home.

He worked for the Lake City Ammunition Plant from February 1966 until retiring in September 1992. He also worked for Town and Country Shoe factory in Odessa and had worked for Pitts Mobile Homes. He was also involved in the construction of Interstate 70. For the past 10 years, he was a bus driver for the Lafayette County sheltered workshop in Higginsville.

He was an Army veteran of the Korean War and served from March 1952 until March 1954. He was stationed in Germany at the time of his discharge and held the rank of corporal. He was a life member of Odessa Veterans of Foreign Wars Post No. 5675 and local post commander in 1969-70. He also served in VFW offices on the local and state level.

He was a member of St. Matthew's Lutheran Church of Ernestville.

Additional survivors include seven sons, Mike Chrisman of Cochran, GA; David Lueck of Higginsville, MO; Tim Lueck of Fort Morgan, CO; Leroy Lueck of Odessa, MO; James Lueck of Sioux City, IA; William Lueck of Odessa, MO; and Matt Lueck of Grain Valley, MO; two step-sons, Steve McCarty of Buffalo, MO; and Dennis McCarty of Pensacola, FL; two step-daughters, Patricia Serrato of Independence, MO and Pam Goff of Oak Grove, MO; two brothers, Dale Lueck of Odessa, MO; and Melvin Lueck of Oak Grove, MO; three sisters, Virginia McWhirter of Slater, MO; Irene Treece of Warrensburg, MO; and Ella Bryson of Marshall, MO; 20 grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will be June 27, at Ralph O. Jones Funeral Home in Odessa. Rev. Jack Blansit will officiate.

Pallbearers will be Brandon Hopkins, Barry Chambers, Darren Ellison, Dusty Lueck, Brad Lueck and Nick Lueck. Burial with military honors by Odessa Military Honors Team No. 5675 will be in Bates City Cemetery in Bates City.
