Jackie Blair Stroup, 76, Downing, MO, passed away on March 6, 2004, at his home.

The son of Harry Earl and Sarah Ellen (Seaman) Stroup, he was born September 3, 1927 in Millard, MO.

On November 18, 1951, he married Emma Frances Ruth in Unionville, MO. Two children were born to this union.

He was preceded in death by his parents.

Surviving are his wife, Emma Stroup of Downing, MO; one daughter, Sandra Moore and husband, John of Beaufort, NC; one son, Michael Stroup and wife, Susan of Beaufort, NC; two grandchildren, John Hiles of Beaufort, NC and Keith Hiles of Raleigh, NC; one sister, Joyce Stomberg of St. Charles, MO; one niece, Sheree Stomberg of New York City, NY; and his mother-in-law, Dorothy Ruth of Downing, MO.

Mr. Stroup served in the United States Army during World War II and the Korean Conflict. He was a member of the American Legion Post 146 in Oceanside, CA. Jackie was self-employed in the music industry where he began the Ajax Music Company in Kirksville, MO in 1946 until 1964. He and his family then moved to Oceanside, CA in 1965 and continued in the music industry as long as his health permitted. In 2003, Emma and Jackie moved to Downing, MO, where they made their home with Emma's mother.

Memorial services will be held on Monday, June 28, 2004, at 2:30 p.m. at the Downing City Cemetery. Special musical selection will be by Doug Norman and Maxine Ruth will play the harmonica. Memorials will be the donor's choice and may be given to the Norman Funeral Home, 402 W. Washington, Lancaster, MO 63548. Burial will be in the Downing City Cemetery in Downing, MO. Military rites will be given by the Schuyler County Post #5898. Final arrangements are under the direction of the Norman Funeral Home of Lancaster and Downing, MO.
