LLOYD F. "SHORT" SELF
---Lloyd F. "Short" Self, age 70, of LaPlata, Missouri, passed away Sunday (October 29, 2000) at the LaPlata Nursing Home.
---Born January 13, 1930, in Green Castle, Missouri, he was the son of James F. and Diona (Shott) Self. On March 6, 1988, in Bennett Springs, Missouri he married Ella (Taylor) Hiles, who survives.
---Also surviving are one step-daughter, Sandra Maggart of LaPlata, Missouri; three brothers, Hugh Self of Craig, Colorado, Glenn Self of Kansas city, Missouri, and Gary Self of Sturgeon, Missouri; one sister Betty Stackhouse of Fontana, California; two step-grandchildren and six step-great-grandchildren.
---He was preceded in death by his parents and three brothers, Leslie, Bill and Judd Self.
---"Short" received his education at the LaPlata High School, after which he served in the United States Army in the Korean War. For a number of years he was employed with the Henry Ruddell gas Company and later worked for the United States Postal Service in LaPlata until his retirement in 1990. He was a member of the American Legion Post #282 of LaPlata, Missouri. "Short" especially enjoyed hunting and fishing.
---Memorial services will be held at 2:00 p.m. Wednesday, November 1, 2000 at the Travis Funeral Chapel, LaPlata, Missouri. Officiating will be Chaplain Norm Snowbarger, Musical selections will be "Go Rest High On That Mountain" and "The Dance".
---There will be no visitation, the body has been cremated.
---Memorials in memory of Lloyd F. Self, may be made to the LaPlata Cemetery or to Hospice 2000. They may be sent to or left at Travis Funeral Chapel, LaPlata, Missouri.
