Carmen Valdivia Olvera went home to the Lord on Thursday, Aug. 14, 2003, at age 68. She left this world peacefully with her daughters at her side. She was born in Topeka March 28, 1935. Carmen was preceded in death by her parents, Ramiro Sr. and Jenny Valdivia; her husband, Luis Olvera Sr.; her son, Luis Olvera Jr.; a great-granddaughter, Jazmyn Lee; her brother, Bobby Valdivia; and sisters, Lupe and Eloise Valdivia.
She is survived by her daughters, Maria Teresa Olvera, Amalia "Molly" Olvera Lendman, Patricia Michelle Dart; sister, Amelia V. (Frank) Cervantez; brothers, Daniel (Carrie) Valdivia and Ramiro (Carol) Valdivia, Jr.; grandchildren, Tiffany Nicole Olvera, Luis Olvera III, Elizabeth Diane Lendman, John Dodson Teeter Lendman, Lance Wesley Dart, Renee Erin Dart; great-grandson, Luis Olvera, IV and her sons-in-law, Louis A. Lendman and Todd S. Dart; several nephews and nieces.
A rosary will be recited at 7 p.m. Monday at Mission Park North Funeral Chapel, 340 N. Cherry Ridge Drive, and a Funeral Mass will be said at 10 a.m. Tuesday at St. Gregory the Great Catholic Church, 700 Dewhurst, both in San Antonio, Texas. Burial will follow at Fort Sam Houston National Cemetery.
A Memorial Mass will be said at 7 p.m. Friday, Aug. 22, at Our Lady of Guadalupe Church, Topeka. Family members will greet attendees in the church basement immediately following the service.

She is a living presence. Your Mother is always with you.
She's the whisper of the leaves as you walk down the street, she's the smell of certain foods you remember, flowers you pick and perfume that she wore, she's the cool hand on your brow when you're not feeling well, she's your breath in the air on a cold winters day. She is the sound of the rain that lulls you to sleep, the colors of a rainbow, she is your birthday morning.
Your Mother lives inside your laughter. And she's crystallized in every tear drop. A mother shows every emotion........ happiness, sadness, fear, jealousy, love, hate, anger, helplessness, excitement, joy, sorrow..... and all the while hoping and praying you will only know the good feelings in life.
