Patricia Ann Rodriguez was a grandmother, sister, aunt, and friend. She was known to those who loved her as Pat, or Patsy, Auntie Pat, Grandma. But to us she was our Mom. She spent her adult life making sure we had everything we needed. She worked many different jobs: steel worker, bookkeeper and home care person, to name a few. We can never thank her enough for what she has done. We thank her for the protection when she stood in front of us. We thank her for the support when she stood next to us holding our hand. We thank her for the push when she stood behind us. Mom taught us love, respect and molded us into the human beings we are today. Mom's love & teaching helped us avoid the trouble that seemed to find others all around us. She brought us up to live clean lives. We have beautiful families and we know how proud of us she was.

We live in a society today in which people are measured by their wealth or status. Mom may have left this world with no money in her pocket, no car, or house or fancy jewelry, yet she was the richest person we knew. She was rich because she had a family who loved her without condition. And family was everything to Mom. She adored her grandchildren and her nieces & nephews. Mom loved to watch movies with them. She would put up with watching the same movies over and over again. Whether it was The Wizard of Oz with Maya (also known as pause and rewind), or the Lion King with Ryan or Scream with Jax, she never argued. Mom enjoyed playing games with them. Her favorites were Candy Land and Sorry. She would keep playing even though Maya would always get the ice cream card or Justin would get the sorry card at the right moment. She looked forward to spending time with Marina watching television and having their late-night talks. Her favorite show was Sponge Bob. Mom was training Noah. He would get excited in his chair when he heard the bubbles at the beginning of the show.

We know mom is looking down on us with a smile. She would be happy knowing we are celebrating her life instead of mourning her death. She would want us to laugh and move forward with our lives. As we shed our tears let's remember the good times, too. Mom was always one for a good cry. Every year she cried when Frosty melted. She would have enjoyed this gathering as if she planned it herself, oh wait, she did. Mom, you will forever be in our hearts and we will meet again. Say hi to Uncle Larry, grandma & grandpa Jagielski, grandma & grandpa Szot, grandma & grandpa Vrahoretis, and Grandpa Rodriguez.
Love,
Paul, Beverly, and Julie

PS: Tell Grandpa Rodriguez that in heaven, there is no swearing at the slot machines.

Christmas In Heaven
I see the countless Christmas trees
Around the world below,
With Tiny lights like Heaven's stars reflecting on the snow

The sights so spectacular
Please wipe away that tear,
For I am spending Christmas
With Jesus Christ this year.

I hear many Christmas songs
That people hold so dear,
But the sound of music cannot compare with the
Christmas choir up here.

I have no words to tell you
The joy their voices bring,
For it is beyond description
To hear the angels sing.

I know how much you miss me.
I see the pain inside your heart,
But I am not so far away
We really aren't apart.
So be happy for me dear ones.
You know I hold you dear
And be glad I am spending Christmas
With Jesus Christ this year.

I send you each a special gift
From my heavenly home above.
I send you each a memory
Of my undying love,
After all love is a gift
More precious than pure gold.
It was always most important
In the stories Jesus told.

So let's love each other
As the Father said to do.
For I cannot count the blessings he has for you.
So have a merry Christmas
And wipe away that tear,
Remember I am spending Christmas
With Jesus Christ this year

You can shed tears that she is gone
or you can smile because she has lived.

You can close your eyes and pray that she'll come back
or you can open your eyes and see all she's left.

Your heart can be empty because you can't see her
or you can be full of the love you shared.

You can turn your back on tomorrow and live yesterday
or you can be happy for tomorrow because of yesterday.

You can remember her and only that she's gone
or you can cherish her memory and let it live on.

You can cry and close your mind, be empty and turn your back
or you can do what she'd want: smile; open your eyes; love; and go on.
