Cremation will take place under the direction of Terpening & Son Mortuary.
Darrell was born September 18, 1952 in Artesia; the son of James William Smedley and Lela Darlene Briscoe Smedley. He was a lifelong Artesia resident.
He was disabled when he was fourteen. He was a former member Artesia Jaycees, member of the Artesia Arts Council, and the Artesia Stamp Club.
He was preceded in death by his father; and by two grandmothers and a grandfather.
