Professional Football Player. After graduating from Weatherford High School, he went to Baylor University where he was named an All-American in 1955. He played for the Green Bay Packers for ten years (1956 to 1965) after joining the team as a seventh-round draft pick. He is eighth on the Packers' career interceptions list with 28. He was inducted into the Packers' Hall of Fame in 1976. He left the NFL after playing for the Los Angeles Rams in 1966. He was a retired building contractor and served as a Parker County (Texas) commissioner. One of the biggest plays of his career came in the NFL championship game in 1961 at City Stadium against the New York Giants. He intercepted a pass from Giants' Hall of Fame quarterback Y.A. Tittle in the second quarter, which set up the Packers' third touchdown of the game. The Packers eventually won, 37-0, to claim their first NFL championship in 17 years. He also played on Vince Lombardi-led NFL championship teams in 1962 and 1965. He was inducted into the Baylor University Hall of Fame in 1971.
