She was the daughter of the late Robert and Willie Mae Ellington, she was one of two chilren. At the age of seven she joined John Wesley A.M.E. Zion Church, she was a member for 64 years. She was a former member of the Talmadge Turner Choral, The Frank White Concendoes, The Rance Allen Group and the Donald Vail Choraleers.

She received her education through the Detroit Public School System, as well as Lewis Business College and Livingston College.

Clara married George Bellman Jr. on November 25, 1951. To that union no children were born.

Clara was Senior Manager for Thompson Funeral Home and worked there for over 40 years.

Besides her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband George Bellman(April 20,2002) and her brother Robert Ellington Jr. She was the great-neice to the late Duke Ellington.

Mrs. Bellman was a wonderful and loving person, she was dedicated to her job at the Thompson Funeral Home. She never revealed that she was sick (Liver Cancer) and worked there till she wasn't able to and that was one month before she died.

Clara was very dear to me she treated me like I was her own daughter, after my mother died she steped in and was momma to me. She was a wonderful giving lady and she had a lot of people who loved and respected her. She was very well known in the Funeral Industry. She was a sharp dresser and loved to travel. She always drove a custom made Cadillac, she also loved football.

She didn't want treatment when she found out she was sick and was not long joining her beloved husband George.

Thanks to Clinton Hiley for sponsoring Mrs. Bellman's memorial.
