FRITTS, Larry Stephen, age 75, of Bellbrook, went to be with his Lord and Savior Jesus Christ on Thursday, September 8, 2016, at Hospice of Dayton after a courageous 11 month battle with cancer. Larry was born June 24, 1941, in Knoxville, Tennessee to the late Herbert E. and Leta Vernell Fritts. He was a true VOL. Larry joined the United States Air Force in December 1959, and served our country for 20 years, serving two tours in Vietnam. He graduated from Rule High School in Knoxville, Tennessee, class of 1959 and from Park College in Parkville Missouri with a BS and a MS degree. He served faithfully and with excellence as a Program Manager in the F 16 Program at WPAFB for 28 years. Larry loved his job and had great affection for all of his co-workers in the F 16 Program. Larry was a recreational pilot and greatly enjoyed his time in the air. He flew out of Aero Club. Larry also loved to travel and had travelled extensively, all over the world, with family and friends. He was a member of Washington Heights Baptist Church and had served on multiple mission trips to South Africa. He was a former member of Emmanuel Baptist and Bellbrook Emmanuel Baptist. He served these churches in many positions and with his time, talents and resources. Larry was a 32 degree Mason and belonged to Knollwood Lodge F. & A.M. and the Dayton Corvair Club. Larry was preceded in death by his beautiful daughter, Andrea Lynn Hurst; sister, Barbara Page; and a brother, Thomas Fritts. He is survived by his loving wife of 54 years, Doris Goggins Fritts. He was papaw to his very special grandson and granddaughter, Colin and Brianna Hurst. He was father-in-law to Jim Hurst. Also survived by brothers, Gerald, and Sidney (Helen); sister, Ruth Ann (Carl) Perry; niece, Gabrialle; and nephew, Brian and many other nieces and nephews. Gloria Hetzel was a special sister-in-law. Larry Stephen Fritts was a really good and generous man with the heart of a servant. He will be greatly missed by all and holidays will never be the same without Larry in the kitchen. The family will receive friends from 5:00 to 8:00 p.m. Tuesday, September 13, 2016 at TOBIAS FUNERAL HOME - FAR HILLS CHAPEL. Celebration of Larry's life will be held 11:00 a.m. Wednesday. Pastor David Kisner officiating. Burial Bellbrook Cemetery. Donations may be made to Hospice of Dayton.
