~MY ANCESTOR~

He was lost in the Atlantic Ocean on the "Phantom Ship" with Lamberton & a group of others from New Haven on their way to England. He had been chosen in 1644 to obtain a patent for New Haven Colony from the King of England.
The son of HENRY & EDITH (ALLISTREE) GREGSON, he was a merchant, assistant of the colony, the first treasurer, and the first Commissioner for the Union with other New England colonies. He had a farm in East Haven near Solitary Cove on the east side of the harbor, as well as a stately house on the corner of Church and Chapel in New Haven. The family lived in East Haven after his death.
He left his widow, JANE GREGSON, one son and eight daughters.

He came to New Haven, CT. in 1639 as one of its first settlers. He served as treasurer and member of the Governor's Council and as a commissioner of the United Colony.
He and Jane had the following children: Anna, Richard, Rebecca, Mary, Susannah, Phebe, Abigail and Sarah.
