June was born in Nunica, Michigan, the daughter of Paul and Etta (Brook) Moore. She attended Nunica schools, and married Basil Bird on October 12, 1940. Together they raised five children.
Devout in her faith, she was a lifelong member of First Baptist Church of Spring Lake, and began her day by reading her Bible and the Daily Bread. She looked forward to the Widow's Mite group each month, and attended the monthly hymn sings at Bethel Baptist Church. She enjoyed getting together with her special church friends, Ginny and Bernice, and the Barbiers who were lifelong friends. She was a great cook and loved to cook for her family. Cake decorating was a hobby of hers since childhood, and she later taught cake decorating with the Fruitport Adult Education.
She was passionately devoted to her family.
June is survived by her sons, Robert (Joyce) Bird of Muskegon, Basil Jr. (Linda) Bird of Rothbury; daughters, Iris (George) Stuart of WV, Wendy Bird of Muskegon, Julie (Bill) Turpin of Fruitport; 13 grandchildren, 22 great grandchildren, 10 great great grandchildren; brother, Jim (Joyce) Moore of Jenison, MI; sister, Pauline Shears of Spring Lake; many nieces and nephews; and her siamese cat, Lady. She was preceded in death by her husband, Basil; granddaughter, Diane; and 3 brothers. A funeral service was held at First Baptist Church of Spring Lake with Pastor Doug Bytwerk officiating.
