FAIRCHILD, Wis. - Retired Army Sgt. 1st Class Patrick Boden McCready, 43, formerly of Newport News, died Sunday, March 10, as the result of a shooting incident in Fairchild.
Sgt. McCready retired from the Army at Fort Eustis in 1985 after 20 years' service. He then moved to Fairchild, where he had served as police chief for 2+ years.
Survivors include his wife, Esther Bulander McCready; a daughter, LaDonna Settie of Anchorage, Alaska; a son, Patrick McCready Jr., at home; his mother, Tess Hanson of Minneapolis, Minn.; a sister, Roberta Carlson of Apple Valley, Minn.; five brothers, Donald McCready of Minneapolis, Ronald McCready of Amery, Wis., Michael McCready of Tucumcari, N.M., Timothy O'Connell of Superior, Wis., and Eric Hanson of Minneapolis; and a grandson.
A funeral will be conducted at 10 a.m. Friday in Osseo Evangelical Lutheran Church, Osseo, Wis. Burial with military honors will be in Fort Snelling National Cemetery, Minneapolis.
