Mary S. Kelly was born on July 3, 1887 in Albany, New York, the daughter of David and Emma (Schuyler) Kelly. She had five siblings; Jeanette Ball, Abigail Kelly, Eleanor Carty, James Kelly, and John Kelly. On November 21, 1911, she married Francis A. Allen and the couple eventually moved to Niagara Falls, New York. Their first child, Emogene, was born in 1914 and died from brain fever in 1916. Francis and Mary had three more children, Earl Allen, Betty Soluri, and Albert Allen. Mary died on January 8, 1937.
