Married to David Willock Wallace, mother of Elizabeth Virginia Wallace, who was better known to most as Bess Truman, wife of President Harry S. Truman. Her husband held several public offices, including Jackson County Treasurer, and was Deputy Surveyor in the Kansas City office of the United States Bureau of Customs at the time of his death in 1903 (suicide by gunshot). Margaret Wallace died in 1952 in the White House, during her son-in-law's term as President. Although her husband is buried in this same cemetery, he is buried in the Wallace family plot, while she is in the Gates family plot. The two are at opposite ends of different sections of the cemetery.
