Josephine Akin, age 63, of Buffalo, died Saturday, January 16 [1988] at the Medical Center in Lexington. She was a member of the Holly Grove Baptist Church and a Sunday school teacher for many years. She received her schooling at Campbellsville College and Western Kentucky University. She taught school in Larue County for 35 years, retiring in 1986. She was president of the Buffalo Garden Club. Mrs. Akin was a native of Tennessee. Survivors include her husband, Wesley Akin of Buffalo; 1 son, Dr. James W. Akin of Lexington; 1 daughter, Anna Jo Pepper of Hodgenville; 5 brothers, Joseph Hyde, Frank Hyde, Carl Hyde and Harvey Hyde, all of Louisville and David Hyde of Mariette, GA. Funeral services were held Monday, January 18 at Holly Grove Baptist Church with burial in the Buffalo Cemetery. Bro. Darrell Vance and Bro. Danny Nelson officiated. Funeral arrangements were by Dixon-Rogers Funeral Home.
