Born in the Oak Grove Vicinity on July 18 1845. Grew up in Jackson County and married Miss Nannie Gregg. She died in 1882. They had two sons, Allie & Gregg. Green enlisted in the spring of 1862 in Company C, Colonel Upton Hays' 2nd Missouri Calvaryin Shelby's Brigade. He later joined William Quantrill and fought under him for several months. He attended the Quantrill reunions. Austin died in Helena, Montana on April 28 1908 of pneumonia. His home was in Maryville, Montana. His brothers are Frank and Ed Austin of Kansas City, Missouri, Ben and William Austin of near Wichita, Kansas. Sister is Mrs. Charlie Duncan of near Oak Grove. Oak Grove Banner May 8 1908.
