Hold Autopsy
In Death of
John Gaulke
Post-mortem findings are being
awaited by the Wood County
coroner's office to determine the
cause of the death of John A.
Gaulke, 55, Rt. 1, Nekoosa, who
succumbed about 10:45 p.m. Sat-
urday at the Nekoosa mill of
Nekoosa-Edwards Paper Co.
Gaulke was found unconscious
inside a recovery furnace which
he had been cleaning and re-
pairing. A physician was sum-
moned and artificial respiration
was rendered, but the palient
was pronounced dead about 15
minutes later.
An autopsy, ordered by Cor-
oner Harold G. Pomainville, was
performed at Marshfield Sunday
but it may be several days be-
lore a report fixing the cause of
death is received.
Funeral s e r v i c e s for Mr.
Gaulke will be held at 2 o'clock
Tuesday afternoon at the Feld-
ner Funeral Home, Nekoosa, the
Rev. C. A. O'Neill officiating,
with interment in Riverside Cem-
etery. Friends may pay their re-
spects at the funeral home from
7 o'clock this evening until the
time of services.
Mr. Gaulke was born Aug. 15,
1897, in the town of Port Ed-
wards, the son of Mr. and Mrs
Frank Gaulke, and had been a
resident of this community all
his life. He had been employed
by Nekoosa-Edwards Paper Co.
since 1934.
Survivors include his parents
and two brothers, George of Ne-
koosa and Robert of Algoma,
Wis.

The state industrial commis-
sion, on the basis of a hearing
held here Feb. 26, ruled Monday
that Mr. and Mrs. Frank Gaulke,
town of Port Edwards, are entitled
to $12,000 as total dependents
of a son killed last July 4
at the Nekoosa mill of the Ne-
koosa-Edwards Paper Co.
John A. Gaulke was electrocute-
ed while cleaning and repairing
a recovery furnace at the mill.
The commission order stipu-
lated that the company pay the
Gaulkes $130 monthly until the
full amount has been paid. The
company's insurer had argued at
the hearing that the parents were
only partially dependent on their
son, therefore entitled to a lesser
award.
