Earl E. Harden, age 85, passed away on Wednesday November 16, 2016 at IU Health Tipton Hospital in Tipton. He was born on May 7, 1931 in Caruthersville, MO to Johnny and Jewel (Taylor) Harden. On November 6, 1948 he married Maxine Moore in a ceremony in Arkansas and they shared in 68 years of marriage together.

Earl was a member of the Windfall Pentecostal Church, United Steelworkers Local 2958 and the Retired Indiana Public Employees Association. He enjoyed grilling out, traveling, country music and watching television. Earl loved spending time with his friends and family, especially his great grandchildren.

Earl retired from Continental Steel of Kokomo in 1980 after 30 years of service to the company. After a brief retirement he then went to work for the Indiana Department of Transportation from 1982 to 1996, then Earl was a transporter for Nolley’s Boats in Windfall from 1996 to 2002.

Survivors include his wife, Maxine Harden of Windfall, his children; Gary (Linda) Harden of Windfall, Rick Harden of Greentown, Pamela (Dean) Slate of Windfall, Debra Stout of Kokomo, Rhonda Harden of Evansville and Michelle (Brad) Stroup of Westfield. Other survivors include his grandchildren; Ronny Brown, Chris Harden, Jamie Garmon, Kane Harden, Shad McCorkle and Kristi Westcot along with his great grandchildren; Evan McCorkle, Collin McCorkle, Triston Harden, Isaac Garmon, Jaylynn Harden, Jacob Harden, Josiah Brown, Estelle Stroup, Violet Stroup, Adaleigh Stroup, Holden Westscot and Eisley Westcot. Two brothers; Kenneth Harden of Missouri and Mickey Mooney of Indianapolis also survive

Earl was preceded in death by his parents, and two brothers; Jay W. Harden and Harold Harden.

Visitation is scheduled from 11 AM to 1 PM on Friday November 18, 2016 at the Porter Funeral Home located at 726 East North Street in Tipton, IN. Funeral services will be held 1 PM on Friday afternoon immediately following visitation. Pastors Chris Ellis and Paul Mooney will be officiating with interment following in Windfall’s Brookside Cemetery.
