His obituary describes his relatively short life: "Ray A. Button, aged 53 years passed away at the residence, 85[?5] Washington street this morning after a brief illness. "Mr. Button was born January 8, 1883, at Mabel, Whitewater township, this county, the son of Mr. and Mrs. James A. Button. On February 24, 1904, he was married to Miss Cora Linkletter at Frankfort, and the young couple lived on the farm near Williamsburg until their removal to this city nineteen years ago. "Surviving, in addition to the widow, is one son, Clarence, of Williamsburg, Earl of this city, and Harry of Potelatch [sic], Idaho, one half-brother, George of California, and one sister, Mrs. Moses Wagner of Fife Lake. A daughter, Emma A. passed away in 1921. "The remains will rest at the J. L. Weaver Funeral Home where services will be held Friday afternoon at 2:00 o'clock, Rev. Thomas E. Bennett of the Oak Park Congregational church, of which Mr. Button was a member, officiating. Interment will be made in the family lot in Oakwood cemetery."
