Beauregard officer killed in collision

A Beauregard Parish Sheriff's Office detective died and three more were injured in a crash with an 18-wheeler about 1:30 p.m. Tuesday in Bossier City, authorities reported.
The trailer of the 18-wheeler crossed in front of and struck the Sheriff's Office SUV being driven by Detective Robert "Robbie" Eugene Beane, 34, of Merryville, who was killed in the crash, authorities said. Detective Dale Sharp, 38, of DeRidder and Deputy Brian Leedom, 34, of DeRidder went to LSU Medical Center with serious injuries, officials said. The Caddo Parish Sheriff's Office reported that passenger Lance Grant, 21, of Leesville was also injured.
The men were returning to their motel after a SWAT competition and training event in Shreveport when the crash occurred, the Beauregard Parish Sheriff's Office said.
Beane was a 14-year member of the department and had served in corrections, patrol and the detective division. He was also a member of the dive team, SWAT team and golf team.
The truck driver, 47, of Chicago, was not injured and was cited for entering a highway from a private drive and for equipment violations, police said.

Funeral Services were held at the First Pentecostal Church of DeRidder on Friday, May 8, 2009 at 11 AM the Bros. Kennis Smith and Marshall Coiteau officiated. Burial followed at Old Cypress Cemetery in Rosepine, Louisiana.
Robbie worked for the Beauregard Parish Sherriff's Department for 14 years and was part of the SWAT, Special Weapons And Tactical Team, diving team and a detective. He served on the board for the LTPOA, Louisiana Tactical Police Officers' Association, and DeRidder Lion's Club.
Robbie was dedicated to the work of the Lord and the Worship Leader at the Christ Way Church of DeRidder. He was a devoted father and husband.
Survivors include his Wife; Daughter; Mother; Brother all of Merryville, Louisiana; Two Sisters of DeRidder, Louisiana; and Grandmother of Merryville, Louisiana.
He was preceded in death by: Father: Eugene Beane
