Mercer man retired after 42 years with Conrail
William P. Dout Jr., 7266 W. Market St., Mercer, formerly of Hopper Road, Transfer; and Orangeville Road, Greenville, died at 8:20 a.m. Monday (8-7-00) in UPMC Horizon, Greenville, after an extended illness. He was 75.

Mr. Dout was born March 19, 1925, in New Castle to William P. and Myra B. Carr Dout Sr.

He attended New Castle area schools.

Mr. Dout retired in 1987 after 42 years as a track foreman with Conrail.

He was a member and past governor of Loyal Order of the Moose Mercer Lodge 1637. The life member of Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 3374, Hempfield Township, also belonged to Benevolent and Protective Order of Elks Sharon Lodge 103 and was Shenango Valley Alert Team’s past president.

His first wife, the former Margaret G. Minner, died April 1, 1991.

Surviving are: his wife, the former Eleanor J. Burkhart DeMarco, whom he married Nov. 4, 1994; four stepdaughters, Mrs. Harry (Eleanor) Smeltz, Greenville; Antoinette DeMarco, Las Vegas; Theresa DeMarco, Sharpsville; and Mary DeMarco, Transfer; four stepsons, Louis S. DeMarco, Hermitage; Frank W. DeMarco, Sharon; and Joseph S. and James E. DeMarco, both Mercer; a brother, Kenneth E., Stewart, Fla.; and several step-grandchildren and stepgreat-grandchildren.
