Arlyne E. (Bell) Evans, 78, Sarasota, Fla., died Monday at Sarasota Memorial Hospital after an extended illness.

She was born in Reightown, Antis Township, daughter of the late Edward R. Bell and Myrtle M. (Chase) Burkhart. She married Everett L. Salyer Jr. Aug. 8, 1947. He preceded her in death Sept. 4, 1977.

She was preceded in death by brothers and sisters: Harry Numer, Mahlon Burkhart, Naomi Bowers, Thomas Burkhart, James T. Bell, Clara Hostler and Allen W. Bell. She was the last survivor of the original Robert T. Bell family of Bellwood.

She enjoyed skating with her brothers and friends when she was young.

She attended Bellwood Antis High School and was a member of the Class of 1948. She enjoyed working as a microelectronics technician at Philco-Ford Co. in Lansdale, Pa., for a number of years, where she was in charge of quality control.

Mrs. Evans enjoyed sewing, baking and working in her garden, especially with her roses. She was a lifelong lover of country music. Her last great pleasure in life was put into teaching herself how to use her computer, spending her time listening to old country music and gospel programs, talking and making friends with people all over the world, and reminiscing about the good old days.

She is survived by her loving husband of 14 years, Michael W. Evans of Sarasota, Fla. They loved to go fishing in the bay, camping and spending time with their family that came to visit them, and their two dogs, Maggie and Buford. She was of the Baptist faith and enjoyed church activities, playing and singing gospel music with her friends and family.

She is survived by five children: Larry A. Salyer of Reightown, Melanie A. Wolfe of Altoona, Sherry S. Sharpe and husband, Steven, of Lexington, S.C., Marsha L. Mountain and husband, Kenneth, of Bellwood, and Chris B. Salyer and Roslynn of Tyrone; 11 grandchildren: Larry Salyer Jr., Brenda Wrobleski, Pamela Michalec, Christina Hillis, LizBeth Sharpe, Jonathan Sharpe, Ken Mountain Jr., Mariah Mountain, James Mountain, Katie Salyer and Everett Salyer; nine great- grandchildren; and one great-great-grandchild due this summer.

Friends will be received from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Friday, Jan. 16, at Vincent J. Good Funeral Parlor, Bellwood, where a funeral service will be held at 1 p.m. Saturday by Pastor Steven E. Sharpe. Interment will be at Logan Valley Cemetery, Bellwood.
