"Mrs. Hawkins, 56, Had Stroke
BRIDGMAN -- Mrs. Aileen Hawkins of Harbert, editor of the Bridgman Community Enterprise, died this morning at Walters hospital, Michigan City, Ind. She was 56.
Mrs. Hawkins had been admitted to the hospital Sunday after suffering a stroke at her home.
She took over operation of the weekly newspaper upon the death of the former editor, Harle Wright, about four years ago.
She previously had been employed by a St. Joseph attorney and at the New Buffalo Times newspaper.
Her husband, William, died several years ago.
She is survived by three children, Walter Timothy Hawkins of Harbert; William J. Hawkins, Gresham, Ore., and Mrs. Kenneth (Mary. Ann) Kelley of Grand Rapids." From The Herald-Palladium, August 17, 1966, page 1
