Son of Colonel Levi and Sarah Ward Coe. Married Sophia F. Hall on Nov. 27, 1851. President of the Meriden Savings Bank. Held numerous offices in Meriden including that of Mayor in 1894, 1885, 1896, and Water Commissioner. First clerk of the city court and judge of the court for eighteen years. Author and compiler of the "Coe-Ward Memorial". Member of St. Andrew's Episcopal Church where he was a vestryman. He erected a memorial library in his hometown of Middlefield.
