Born April 12, 1923, in Smith County, Va., he was the son of the late Luther and Ada Cassell Cregger.
Mr. Cregger was a dairy farmer for 20 years and then with Mason Dixon Farms Dairy for seven years. He was very active in church. He loved to garden and loved to be with his grandchildren.
Surviving, besides his wife of 61 years, are four children, Carl Cregger and wife Linda, of Wooster, Ohio, Harold Cregger and wife Cindy, of Fairfield, Bradley Cregger and wife Jerrie, of Spring Grove, and Alvin Cregger and wife Sherry, of Emmitsburg, Md.; 12 grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; two sisters, Fern Bodmer and husband Charles, of Fairfield, and Gwenda Fuss and husband the Rev. Lloyd, of Frederick, Md.; and five brothers, Irvan Cregger and wife Marian, of Woodsboro, Elmer Cregger and wife Emily, and Arnold Cregger and wife Genny, all of New Midway, Md., Leslie Cregger and wife Joan, of State College, and Marvin Cregger and wife Diane, of South Carolina. Many nieces and nephews also survive. He was preceded in death by a son, Melvin Cregger; a granddaughter, Melanie Kemp; a sister, Ruby Pleasants; and a brother, Rudy Cregger.
Interment was in Oak Lawn Memorial Gardens, Gettysburg.
