Joe "JC" Elliott, 70, of Lewistown, passed away Wednesday, Aug. 11, 2010, at Kline Hospice House, Mount Airy. He was the husband of Margaret B. Elliott, his wife of 43 years.
Born Sept. 15, 1939, in Independence, Va., he was the son of the late Archie and Nona Elliott. He graduated from Brunswick High School, class of 1959, and served in the U.S. Army from 1959 to 1965. He retired from the federal government after 30 years. He retired from Frederick Community College in 2007 after 10 years of employment.
In addition to his wife, he is survived by a daughter, Kristy Jo Elliott of Frederick; a son, Mark Elliott of Lewistown; stepdaughter, Catherine Tobery and husband, David, and stepson, Joseph Boone and wife, Martha, all of Walkersville; four grandchildren, Kim Beall and husband, William, of Walkersville, Kelly Butler and husband, Greg, of Topeka, Kan., Robert Tobery Jr. and wife, Peggy, of Thurmont, and Peggy Frankel and husband, Derek, of Frederick; six great-grandchildren; a sister, Ruth Nichols of Knoxville; and an aunt, Mary Roberts of Woodsboro. He will also be remembered by numerous nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his two sisters, Rose Owens and Barbara Rouppet; and his four brothers, Charles Hodges, Palmer Hodges, Archie Leroy Elliott and James Elliott.
The family will receive friends from 7 to 9 p.m. Friday, Aug. 13, at the Chapel Mausoleum of Resthaven Memorial Gardens, 9501 U.S. 15 N., Frederick. Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m. Saturday, Aug. 14, at Resthaven's chapel. The Rev. Arthur C. Baugher Sr. will officiate.
In lieu of flowers, contributions can be made to the Scott Key Center, 1050 Rocky Springs Road, Frederick, MD 21702.
Arrangements are by Resthaven Funeral Services, Skkot Cody, P.A., Frederick.
