Motion Picture Scriptwriter. Scripted radio shows for Orson Welles, and wrote the adaptation of "The War of the Worlds". Blacklisted in 1950, he was forced to leave the United States for England. There, he used the pseudonym of Peter Howard. He retired to Woodstock, New York, where he wrote and produced plays for local theatre. He is best remembered for the script, with Epstein Brothers, of the classic "Casablanca" (1942). Other films he wrote were "The Sea Hawk" (1940), "The Letter" (1940) and "Letter from a Unknown Woman" (1948). He is often confused with the director and producer Howard W. Koch.
