Military figure. The last surviving Turkish Ottoman veteran of World War I. He was captured by the British at the second battle of Kut in February 1917, and was held prisoner until after the end of the war. He later fought in the Turkish War of Independence from 1919 to 1922. He is believed to be the last veteran of that conflict also.
