WALSH, MARILYN M., 54, of Hudson, died Tuesday (July 1, 2003) at Hernando-Pasco Hospice in New Port Richey. Born in Greenport, N.Y., she came here in 1994 from Long Island, N.Y. She was a member of St. Michael the Archangel Catholic Church. Survivors include her husband, James C.; a son, James D., Hudson; a daughter, Shanon, Long Island; a brother, Douglass Reed, Cape Cod, Mass.; a sister, Ruth Reed, Hudson; and one grandchild. National Cremation Society, New Port Richey.

-- from the St Petersburgh Times

Marilyn and her family were my neighbors for a couple years. She was a very nice lady and I was very sorry to hear of her passing. She was a really friendly, down to earth woman. She worked at a local restaurant. From what I knew of her she seemed to have had a heart of gold. She loved dogs and had a wonderful little boy and a husband. She was a great animal lover and had a dog at all times running around. Two of them, one a Golden Retriever named Pirate and a Lab mix rescued from a shelter, Star. They died before she did so I bet they were there to greet her.
The last time I saw Marilyn was in 2002 when we moved just two houses down from where we used to live. She was driving by and we chatted for a few minutes. She told me of her cancer diagnosis. She looked ill and she seemed to know she wouldn't beat it. She had something like a bandanna on her head as she had lost her hair because of her treatments. I felt terrible for her young son when she died and still I can't even imagine that little boy losing his mom. He was a very well mannered little boy.
