FUNERAL OF PIONEER TO BE HELD TOMORROW
John Learmont, Butte county pioneer of the 50's and for many years a resident of Marysville, died at the family home here Tuesday morning. Mr. Learmont was a native of New York state, and 81 years 8 months and 16 days old at the time of his death.
A man hale and hearty throughout his life, his last illness was of short duration. He died with his wife and daughter at his bedside. His only son, William C. Learmont, is now in France with the U.S. foresttry [sic] engineers. The deceased was a man of sterling integrity, and well liked by all who knew him. Besides his wife and son he leaves a daughter, Miss Charlotte Learmont of this city, to mourn his passing.
The funeral service will be held at the chapel of R.E. Bevan & Son Friday at 10 a. m. Interment will be made in the family plot at the Marysville city cemetery. The Rev. E.L. Rich will conduct the service. Friends and acquaintances are respectfully invited to attend.
Notes: The stone shown here is for their daughter, Mabel, buried in this cemetery. A stone for John and May Belle was not found in the area where Mabel's stone is found, but Mabel may be buried in an area for children and John and May Belle may be buried in another part of the cemetery.
John was first married to Angeline (Adams) Smith and they had a son, John James. Angeline and John are both buried in Strawberry Valley Cemetery in Yuba County, CA.
