Edith, or Edie, was the daughter of Maj. General Benjamin Grierson and Alice Kirk Grierson. The family was stationed at Fort Concho at the time, living in the OQ1 building when Edith contracted typhoid fever. Two weeks later, Edith passed away at 13 years of age, and was buried at the Fort cemetery, which would now be the present location of Angelo Glass. She would later be relocated to Fairmount when the city was being expanded and by request of a Dr. Samuel Smith she was buried in the Smith family plot, although, to my knowledge, there was no relation between the two families.

In life, Edie was a lively young girl, who loved to dance, often doing so at various hops held at the Fort. She was also very protective of her younger siblings and had a close relationship with her parents. Edie was very popular and much loved young lady.

There are allegations that Edie and her mother now haunt the OQ1 building where she breathed her last. For more info please visit http://www.westtexasparanormal.org/page5.htm
