Dorothy Diane Harris, 52, of Austin, Texas passed away on April 1, 2006. Her family would like to express their sincere appreciation of the compassion and loving care given to Dorothy by Hospice Austin, Michelle McMahon, her nurse through Hospice Austin, Brighton Gardens Assisted Living and Christopher House. Their kindness and devotion eased a difficult illness for both Dorothy and her family and we cannot thank you enough.
A native Texan, Dorothy grew up in Midland, Texas, later moving to Austin to attend the University of Texas. After graduation she worked for various Law Enforcement agencies. Dorothy served the Galveston Police Department, Travis County Sheriff's Department, the City of Austin, and was a 911 Emergency Dispatcher. She received commendations and various decorations from many of those agencies. Her dedication to public service and the safety of others will long be remembered.
Dorothy is preceded in death by her beloved parents, Patricia Louise O'Brien Harris and Herbert S. Harris, Jr. She is survived by her brother, Herb Harris and his wife, Karen and their children; her sister, Carol Jones Schrepple and her husband, Jeff and their children.
Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Wednesday, April 5, 2006 in the Weed-Corley-Fish Chapel. Interment will follow at Austin Memorial Park.
