Donald Collins, age 79, of Cedar Park, Texas, passed away Sunday, August 21, 2011 in Temple, Texas.
Donald retired from the U S Army and the Austin Police Department, Property Management Unit. He served in the Korean War and twice in Vietnam. Donald was a member of Manchaca Baptist Church, the Buda and Kyle Masonic Lodge, the Manchaca VFW and Texas Baptist Men's Disaster Relief Team, served after Katrina & Rita.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Charlie & Christina Younts of Houston.
He is survived by his wife of 59 years, Betty Miller Collins; children and spouses, Donna & Bruce Eckhardt, Bobby & Doreen Collins, John & Karen Collins and Duane & Lisa Collins; eleven grandchildren, Stacee Keller, Troy & Amy Eckhardt, Heath Eckhardt, Anthony Collins, Kyle Collins, Lauren Collins, Phillip Collins, John Collins, Jr., Ashley Collins, Megan Collins, Trevor Collins; five great grandchildren, Kelsi, Taylor & Paige Eckhardt, Colton Collins and Cooper Collins; brother, Robert Collins & wife Chris; numerous nieces, nephews, great nieces & great nephews.
The family will receive friends 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday, August 23, 2011 at Harrell Funeral Home, Kyle, TX. Service will be at 10:00 a.m., Wednesday, August 24, 2011 at Manchaca Baptist Church. Burial will follow at Onion Creek Memorial Park, Manchaca, TX
