This community was startled for a second time within the space of about ten days to learn that the Grim Reaper had once again entered the home of Chas. Boyce, this time taking therefrom the head of the household, the sad event happening on Monday morning. Mr. Boyce had not been well for some time, but the mental strain incident to the sickness of his wife kept him from collapsing altogether. No sooner had the last offices over the latter been performed than he took to his bed, from which he was a few days afterward removed a corpse. He is said to have fallen a victim to pneumonia, a disease that made rapid progress under the conditions then prevailing. Mr. Boyce was about the same age as his wife, having been born in the state of Delaware 62 years ago. He came to this county in 1864, and soon afterward entered the employ of A. W. Lawrence, who at that time carried on the island sawmill. Being very industrious as well as saving he invested his earnings in the land which has for the past thirty-five years or more been the home of his family, which has now been bereft of both father and mother. The funeral took place on Wednesday afternoon from the home of the deceased, and the remains placed beside those of the wife who had preceded him thither by only one short week. The obsequies were largely attended by the friends and neighbors.
