Lydia was the daughter of Merrill and Orrin Babcock Cooper, who are buried in this cemetery. Some of her brothers and sisters also are buried here: Elias Babcock Cooper, Speedy A and Nathaniel E all by this stone, and Jason elsewhere in this cemetery.

The family came from Hero Island, Vermont, in 1830, moving with two "waggon-loads of stuff" (per Robert Seller unused notes and his History book) and they settled in Elgin Township, Huntingdon County, Lot 10 of the Clergy Reserve, in the 4th Concession.
