Rev. Bernard William Knox, 64, pastor of First Church of the Nazarene, Third and Brown Streets, died at 11:19 p.m. Thursday in Scioto Memorial Hospital.

Rev. Knox was moved to the hospital from his home at 456 Brown St. at 5 p.m. Thursday. He had had a heart condition for the last several years.

He was a past president of the Scioto County Ministerial Association and was in his 21st year as pastor of First Church of the Nazarene at Third and Brown.

Rev. Knox also was a member of Portsmouth's Human Relations Council.

He was a native of Arkansas and was a graduate of Bethany Peniel at Bethany, Okla.

Surviving are his wife, Mrs. Eva Wright Knox, a son, James Knox of Columbus, assistant superintendent of the Southwestern City Schools in Columbus; daughter, Maretta Knox of Charlseton, W.Va., two brothers, Avis Knox of California and Haydn Knox of Arkansas, a twin sister, Rev. Bertha Knox of Hillsboro, Ind, and two other sisters, Mrs. Adyne Howard and Mrs. Eloise Campbell, both of California, and three grandchildren.

Funeral services are to be conducted at 2 p.m. Monday at First Church of the Nazarene, Third and Brown Strs., with Rev. Harvey S. Galloway officiating.

Friends may call at Brock Funeral Home in Portsmouth from 2 to 4 p.m. and 7 to 9 p.m. Saturday, and from 1 to 9 p.m. Sunday.
