Mrs. James S. Bowser Follows to Glad Reunion in Great Beyond
Mrs. Sarah Bowser, for only five days the widow of the late James S. Bowser, yesterday afternoon at 3:30 o'clock followed her beloved husband into the realm of eternal peace. As related in our issue of Monday morning, Mr. and Mrs. Bowser both fell seriously ill within the past few weeks and were brought from their own home at Coburn, above Three Culverts, to the home of a daughter, Mrs. Fred Oast, 1304 Second street, Juniata. Both were stricken with pneumonia, to which disease the husband, 76 years of age, succumbed on Saturday evening at 4:15. His funeral on Tuesday the prostrated wife was unable to attend. The shock of his death no doubt hastened her own.
Mrs. Sarah (Farrel) Bowser was born July 24, 1853, in Williamsburg. She was one of a family orphaned while they were little children, and the deceased was raised to womanhood in the home of Homer Hewitt, near Williamsburg. She later made her home with Andrew Patterson and family, until, on June 14, 1904, she became the wife of Mr. Bowser. Although with no children of her own, Grandmother Bowser was highly esteemed and beloved by a family of stepchildren and in the home of Mr. and Mrs. Oast was given every attention born of devoted love. Besides Mr. Oast, other stepsons and daughters who survive are the Rev. H. Grayhill Bowser, of this city; also surviving are two sisters - a Mrs. Peters, of Pittsburg, and Miss Farrel, of Hollidaysburg. The deceased lady was a lifelong Christian and worshipped with her husband in the
plain faith of the Church of the Brethren. Service over her remains will be conducted by the Rev. J. W. Wilt tomorrow afternoon at 2 o'clock, in the home of Mr. and Mrs. Oast. In a private interment, her body will be laid to rest beside that of her husband in Carson Valley
cemetery.
