Services for Dorothy Mavis Bernard Poole, 84, of Jacksonville, TX, were held at 1 p.m. Tuesday at Resthaven Cemetery in Jacksonville with the Rev. Peggy Edge officiating. Burial followed at Resthaven Cemetery.
Mrs. Poole died Friday, Oct 26, 2001, at a Whitehouse, TX, nursing home.
She was born August 3, 1917 in Palestine, TX, to Dewey Jessie and Clara Elizabeth Honea Bernard.
Mrs. Poole was the first cosmetology teacher at Jacksonville High School. She was a past president of the Business Professional Women's Association and a member of the Association of Texas Professional Educators. She was a member of First Christian Church of Jacksonville.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Willard Lee Poole; brother, Mabran Dewey Bernard; and one great-grandson.
Mrs. Poole is survived by son, Ben Poole of Whitehouse; daughters, Charlotte Calhoun of Jacksonville and Margarette Poole of Houston; sister, Virginia Grimsley of Phoenix, AZ; seven grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren.
