Born April 12, 1927, on Long Island, he was the son of the late Ivan D. and Mary Emily Klein. The family subsequently moved to Westford and Walter graduated from Schenevus High School. He went on to attend college earning associate degrees in science and agriculture engineering. Mr. Klein was an Army veteran of W.W. II, a member of the Barbershop Chorus, Gideon's International, VFW, and was a member of Poplar Springs Baptist Church of Lavonia.
Survivors include his wife, Betty Ann Klein; sons, Charles D. Klein Sr., Walter John Klein Jr., and Timothy Brian Klein; brothers, Edward Klein, Henry Klein, Franklin Klein, and Ivan Klein; sisters, Eleanor Palmer, Martha Morris, Betty Ann Buxton, Katherine Koritich, and Edna Waro; 11 grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren.
