George married Mary Jane Persons, daughter of Abram & Lucy Jane (Frasier) Persons, and the couple had the following children: Emma (Mrs. Samuel Reed), George D (died in infancy), Charles William, and Nettie (Mrs. Stephen Wiles).
In the 1880 and 1900 Census records, George & Mary live in Flushing, Michigan, and George is a farmer. In 1880, his parents, Daniel & Marilla, are also in his household. In 1910, George & Mary are living in Colville precinct, Stevens County, Washington, and a grand-daughter, Edith Wiles, is also in the household.
According to the Washington State Death Index, George died on January 6, 1915, at age 66. After George passed away, we find his wife, Mary, living in the household of their son, Charles in 1920.
On March 23, 1921, Mary marries a 2nd time to James A. DeHart, in Stevens County, Washington. Mary passed away March 8, 1924. From her obituary: " Mrs. DeHart was born in Birmingham, Michigan, in 1849 and in May 1886, she was married to George Pettingill. To this union 10 children were born, all but three being deceased. In 1915 Mr. Pettingill passed away at Auburn." (The correct date for her marriage to George is believed to be May 1868.)
