MY MANY THANKS TO CRZYRTH FOR GIVING THEIR HEART IN SPONSORING SALAMO'S PAGE. A TRUE CONFIRMATION THAT GOOD HEARTED PEOPLE STILL EXIST. THANK YOU!

A third Samoan soldier has died in action in Iraq.
Staff Sergeant Salamo J. Tuialu'ulu'u, 23, from Ta'u, Manu'a. Staff Sergeant Tuialu'ulu'u was killed on Saturday when a military convoy he was traveling in came under attack from Iraqi insurgents in the town of Mosul.

Staff Sergeant Tuialu'ulu'u was assigned to the 3rd Battalion, 21st Infantry Regiment, 1st Brigade, 25th Infantry Division, based in Fort Lewis, Washington. He had only been in Iraq for four months.

Staff Sergeant Tuialu'ulu'u is the son of Tuialu'ulu'u, a teacher at Tafuna High School, and Ulumia Nua Tuialu'ulu'u.

Staff Sergeant Tuialu'ulu'u was born and raised in Ta'u, where he attended Manu'a High School.

He was the first student from Ta'u to be appointed commander of high school's JROTC military cadets.
From there he joined the United States Army.

Memories of my wonderful brother

(published in Samoa News)

I would like to share with Samoa my wonderful and beautiful brother who died in combat, SSGT Tuialuuluu. He was a true Samoan soldier, who lived a Segaula and died a Segaula! If only you could have known how proud Salamo was to be a Samoan, to represent the Manu'atele. He gave his life for us to enjoy our freedom. I would like to share my love for my courageous big hearted brother with the Samoan people: R.I.P SALAMO JARED TUIALUULUU

Words can't explain the anger and pain I feel because my "ONLY BROTHER" has been taken away from me, my parents, my siblings, my family, but more importantly his wife Andrea his unborn child and his precious daughters Eseta Toelupe and Sunema.

Salamo had so much pride and loyalty for his military career. I never understood his deep passion for the Army, but it was something he loved and was successful in.

Earlier on in 2003 when the search for Osama was at its highest and troops were being deployed, Salamo was itching to have his unit deployed. He often told me that he wanted to just get out there and kill the Iraqis' for what they did to the U.S. His mentality was conditioned to that of a true U.S soldier.

My Dad and Mom were very apprehensive about his orders to leave, but nonetheless supported Salamo to the fullest. My Mom constantly begged Salamo to get out of the Army when she first heard news of his deployment. Salamo was her pride and joy, my Dad's too. Years back they had to bury my other brother Saoluaga, now they have to bury their last son Salamo.

Salamo was born after me and I always felt the need to protect him, but he always felt the need to protect me, as well as our other sisters Falesoa, Uluiva, and Mulioaiga. When Falesoa was deployed to Iraq Salamo hated it. He even stopped Uluiva from joining the Army for fear that she would be sent off to the war after Basic Training. Salamo never agreed with females being in the line of duty, especially his own sisters. He always felt the need to carry this burden alone. Whether or not he felt it was his duty as the only boy, and part of his duty to do right by his sisters I will never know.

His last words to me on the night he was called to report to Fort Lewis were, "fai fa'alelei lou galuega ma alofa atu i Samoa ia Mom ma Dad. Ae maua sou avanoa tietie luga ia Song ma fa'atau mai ni a'u piusupo e tu'uifo ia Andrea e lafo atu." Tama lava na fia ai piusupo! We kissed and hugged and I told him that I loved him. This day is forever carved in my mind because it was the last time I saw his big kool-aid smile.

The Lord never closes a door without opening another one. As painful as Salamo's death is I trust in the Lord that it is for a reason - yet to be unveiled. Salamo is laying in the arms of the Lord reunited with his brother Sao and loved ones. He no longer has to live in this world of greed and suffering. Salamo is dwelling among the righteous who have lived according to God's will, and it is this place of eternal blessing we all must strive for. I pray and ask for God's guidance and comfort in our families time of need. May the Lord's support and presence draw us near and keep our families close knit, and may the memory of SALAMO JARED TUIALUULUU forever and eternally bring a smile to your faces.

Always,

Fuata'i

To my beloved brother Mo: Fale is waiting to hear from the VA Office and will be escorting your body back to Samoa with Andrea. The family wants you to have a service in Washington before you leave, but the military only wants to make one stop here and that's just to pick Andrea up. Dad has yet to break the news to Mom. You know how weak she gets Mo. Please visit her with Sao. Grandma and Grandpa miss you Mo. They gathered tonight in Tafuna with Uncle Sao and Aunty Mata. Easter and I will wait for you in Manu'a. Yes, Mo your beloved "MANU'ATELE" is awaiting your arrival. I love you and I felt your presence last night when the bathroom counter kept on opening and closing on its own. I miss you and I love you dearly brother. Please wait for me at the crossroads.

P.S. Yes Sir Boss! Alright Boss!

My dearest Salamo:

I can't stop thinking about you Mo. I just got off the phone with Dad, and instead of me encouraging him he was telling me not to cry. Dad is strong, and it is from his pillar that I try to draw my strength to help us get through this. I miss you terribly, and I can't seem to shake the thought of not ever seeing you again. To wake up in morning finding you snoring away on my couch, and wonder: Gee, what time did he get here? Better yet, you drooling all over the cushions..hehehe!!

Mom is doing fine. She's still very emotional and sensitive when she hears your name. You're her Baby Boy, and no matter how grown you look, in her eyes you'll forever be her baby. You and Mom have a special bond, and I know you visit her often. We are blessed to have such spiritual and loving parents.

When I hear people inquire about your death I get defensive Mo. I break it down to the "tee", and tell them that you gave your life for a war that never should have escalated this far.

This is your Homecoming Baby Boy, and all of Samoa will watch as you return home a HERO a SAMOAN SOLDIER. I can't wait to stand by your side as they watch you Mo. As they honor your bravery and loyalty to what you believed in. I am proud to be your sister. I am honored and blessed that the Lord gave us 24 years with you Mo, then nothing at all. But most of all I am blessed that you were able to see my children before your passing. Your insightful ways and humor will always burn in me.

I am proud to tell people that you are my brother. I love you and I miss you!

Fuata'i

Thank you Samoa News for allowing me to share the memory of my brother with the people of Samoa. We are bringing home a HERO, and I ask you to keep my family in your prayers. We should not worry for the Lord is alive, and he is reason enough for us to keep the torch burning. God bless us all.

Respectfully,

Fuatai R. Tuialuuluu
