Margarett Jerleene "Jerrie" Strickland Cook passed away December 31, 2011 at 7:29 P.M. Jerrie was born June 24, 1936 in Taylorsville, GA – child of Odie Ollie Tabor and Lewis Olden Strickland, who preceded her in death.
She was the most wonderful beloved mother to her two daughters, Vicky Diana Cook Hefner, who preceded her in death January 10, 2004 and Sharon Lynn Cook and devoted wife to Edwin Browel Cook who also preceded her in death June 15, 2009.
She was also preceded in death by her brother William "Buddy" Strickland and sister Kathryn Aileen Bentley. She loved her grandsons, Jeremy Scott Hefner and Sgt. Robert Edwin Hefner, USMC and great granddaughters Sarah Michele Alcorn, Ella Victoria Hefner, Katelyn Grace Hefner and their mother Kristi Jender very much.
She enjoyed spending time with friends and relatives, traveling, especially her casino weekends, playing bingo, gardening and doing things for others, always putting her family first.
Survivors also include brother, Levon Strickland; sisters Marie Puckett and Maxine Haley.
Visitation will be Thursday, January 5, 2012 from 9:30 A.M. – 10:30 A.M with the funeral service at 10:30 A.M. in the Chapel of Carmichael Funeral Home in Marietta (770) 424-4924 with Rev. Phil Owens officiating. Entombment will be at Cheatham Hill Memorial Park Cemetery in the mausoleum chapel.
Pallbearers – Darold Etheridge, Shane Greene, George Blake, Eddie Ross, Jeff Caldwell, Brian Freeman and Ashley Gosney.
Flowers are appreciated or donations in Ms. Cook's name may be made to the American Cancer Society.
