Alyssa, six years old, passed away surrounded by loved ones on August 24, 2006, after a very brave battle with brain stem cancer (diffuse pontine glioma).
Alyssa is survived by her loving parents, Christopher and Lori Hollister Bruno; grandparents, John and Myra Bruno of Geneva, Thomas and Diane Hollister of Warsaw; aunts and uncles, Mark and Melissa Bruno of Seneca Falls, James and Kathryn Bruno Bogart of Geneva, John Bruno of Florida, Carl Russell of Arcade, Tom and Christine Hollister of Warsaw, John and Dawn Hollister of Hilton and family, Trisha Hollister of Warsaw and family; Godparents, Tom Fox and JoAnne Buschang; as well as many cousins; extended family; friends; beloved dogs, Scruffy and Annabelle.
Alyssa's infectious smile and zest for life personally touched the hearts of many people. During her courageous fight with cancer, she voiced no complaints but rather served as an inspiration to others on how to live life to the fullest. For her recent six-year-old birthday, Alyssa received well-wishing cards from people around the world whose lives were touched by her valiant fight. Her beauty, strength and laughter will remain in the hearts of many people for years to come.
Chris and Lori wish to express their deepest gratitude to the wonderful staff at Golisano Children's Hospital at Strong, Compassionate Care, Federation of Social Workers, Lifetime Care and Alyssa's ARMY of friends and family that supported them.
Friends are invited to call on Sunday, from 4-8 PM, at the Miller Funeral Homes 3325 Winton Road South. Alyssa's Funeral Mass will be held in the Saint Anne's Church 1600 Mount Hope Avenue on Monday, at 10:00 AM. Interment at the Pine Hill Cemetery in Rush.
