Tom graduated from Central High School in 1937. During his school years, he found his passion for sports that lasted a lifetime. He played on the baseball and basketball teams throughout his school career. His enjoyment for sports continued through umpiring and attending games for his grandchildren.

Tom was a lifelong member of St. John's U.C.C., confirmed in 1932, where he taught the Edison Sunday School Class for 35 years. He also served on the church council many times.

In October of 1941, he married Joyce Baumgartner. Shortly after, he was called to serve in the Marine Corps during WWII. Upon his return he and Joyce raised five children. In 1947, he took a position with Thrift Incorporated where he remained until his retirement 37 years later.

Tom was a member of the Reed Masonic Lodge No. 316, Scottish Rite, Hadi Shrine, and was president of the Optimist Club in 1959.

He was a wonderful dad and grandfather and a true friend, always there for anyone who needed him. His outgoing nature made him loved by many.

Tom was preceded in death by Joyce, his wife of 61 years, and son-in-law, Barry Weisner.

He is survived by his daughters, Lisa Gooch (David) of Evansville, Darla Skinner (Ralph) of Orlando, Fla., and Kimberley Weisner of Merritt Island, Fla.; sons, Rodney LaMar (Teresa) of Evansville and George LaMar (Vina) of Greenwood, Ind.; grandchildren, Gina Skinner Johnson, Todd Skinner, Tom LaMar, Darby LaMar, Chad LaMar, Erica LaMar Bateman, Laura Gooch Bradtmiller, Brady Gooch, Brandi Weisner, Kevin Weisner and Wendy Weisner; and 13 great-grandchildren.

No words can express how much he is going to be missed by all of us.

The family would like to give a special thanks to Diane O'Neal, C.N.A., for showing Tom so much love and compassion during her care.
