FUNERAL: 1 p.m. Monday, July 17, 2017, at Midway Assembly of God with the Rev. Wayne Murray and the Rev. Randy Burton officiating.

VISITATION: 2 to 5 p.m. Sunday at the church and one hour prior to the service.

BURIAL: Interment will be at Garland Brook Cemetery.

The Rev. Virl Murray, 75, of N. County Road 700W, died at 1:44 a.m. July 14, 2017, at Columbus Regional Hospital.

Virl was born July 11, 1942, in Adair County, Kentucky, the son of Roosevelt and Plona Gaskins Murray. He married Fern Sullivan July 10, 1960.

He was a minister of the gospel for over 50 years, serving the last 26 years as the pastor of Midway Assembly of God.

Virl had a love for horses and enjoyed oil painting. He was a loving husband, father, grandfather and great-grandfather, and will be greatly missed.

The funeral will be conducted at 1 p.m. Monday, July 17, 2017, at Midway Assembly of God with the Rev. Wayne Murray and the Rev. Randy Burton officiating. Calling will be from 2 to 5 p.m. Sunday at the church and one hour prior to the service. Interment will be at Garland Brook Cemetery.

Memorials may be made to the Gideon's International.

Survivors include his wife, Fern; sons, Vance A. (Rhonda) Murray of Columbus, V. Dwayne Murray of Columbus and E. Wayne (Tracie) Murray of Greenwood; daughter, L. Kay Gibson of Edinburgh, along with many foster sons and daughters; brothers, Vernon (Linda) Murray of Morristown and Arnold Murray of California; sisters, Deborah (Bill) Ridge of Indianapolis and Rosetta Troy of Oklahoma; 10 grandchildren; and 16 great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents; a son, Samuel Lee Murray; brothers, Welby Lewis and Eldon Murray; sisters, Dimple Alexander and Hazel Murray; and one grandchild, Brooklynn N. Murray.
