Tawas* City, Michigan - Virgil Bryant, 83, of Tawas City, Michigan, died Sunday (July 10, 1983) at Provincial House Nursing, Tawas City. Funeral services will be 11 a.m. Thursday at Gillies Funeral Home, Lincoln, Michigan. Visitation will be Wednesday evening at the funeral home. Mr. Bryant was born June 10, 1900 at Sano, Kentucky, a son of Mr. and Mrs. John Austin Bryant. He is survived by three daughters, Thelma Chicquette and Lois Corray of Champaign, and Julie Adams of Whitman Air Force Base, Missouri; two sons, Shelby Bryant of Clovis, California and Richard Bryant, also of California; six stepchildren; 18 grandchildren; 18 great-grandchildren; five great-great-grandchildren; one sister, Dortha Whitt of Cincinnati; and three brothers, Lucian Bryant of Edinburg [should be Edinburgh], Indiana, and Ocie [should be Ocil] and Ola Bryant of Columbia, Kentucky. He was preceded in death by five sisters and two brothers.

Gravesite Details

He may have actually been born in Adair County as the Sano Community was on the county line. I determined the cemetery where he is buried by calling the funeral home. They are extremely nice and helpful!
