Doris Jean McGowan, 69, Russell Springs passed away on Tuesday, March 30, 2010 at her home on Old Sano Road.
She was born in Russell County on February 5, 1941 to the late Jewell Harvey Sullivan and Lilburn Sullivan. She was preceded in death by three brothers, Clifton, Harold and Glendo Sullivan along with two sisters, Alberta Wood and Judy Sullivan.
She is survived by her husband, John McGowan; four children, Phyllis Jeffries, Kenneth McGowan, Jeff McGowan and Shirley Browder all of Russell Springs; six brothers, Donald, Jerry and Glendal Sullivan all of Russell Springs, Larry and Alvis Sullivan both of Columbia, and Kermit Sullivan of Clayton, Indiana; two sisters, Virginia Patterson, Bloomington, Indiana, Bernice Nichols, Roopville, Georgia; seven grandchildren; and six great grandchildren.
Mrs. McGowan was a homemaker and member of the Separate Baptist Church.
Funeral services were held Friday, April 2, 2010 at the Bernard Funeral Home Chapel with Bro. Terry Goodin and Bro. Michael Lee officiating. Burial was in Bethlehem Cemetery.
Pallbearers were Bobby Sullivan, Garry Sullivan, Timmy Sullivan, Kent Sullivan, Ricky Bryant and Tim Abernathy. Bernard Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements
