Jonathan M. Hughey, 65, passed away Sunday, Nov. 15, 2009, in Indianapolis.
He was born in Franklin, where he was a member of St. Rose of Lima Catholic Church. A lay minister with the church, Jonathan taught high school religious education. He also was a member of St. Jude Catholic Church.
He was an Air Force veteran of the Vietnam War, serving in the areas of cartography and intelligence. Jonathan was a facility engineer with Chrysler Corp. for 33 years, retiring in 2000. He also was active in the United Auto Workers union.
Jonathan is survived by his mother, Sara Olive Hughey; his wife, Barbara; seven children, Jon (Angel) Hughey, Andrew (Dawn) Hughey, Amy (Chuck) Walker, Ryan Hughey, Michael Hughey, Jennifer Lafary and Joshua (Erin) Clark; seven grandchildren; and a brother, Paul (Jimmie Lee) Hughey.
He was preceded in death by a brother, Phil Hughey.
Friends may call from 5 to 9 p.m. Wednesday at Little & Sons Funeral Home, Stop 11 Chapel, 4901 E. Stop 11 Road, Indianapolis. A Mass of Christian burial will be conducted at 11 a.m. Thursday at St. Jude Catholic Church, 5353 McFarland Road, Indianapolis. Burial will be at Forest Lawn Memory Gardens in Greenwood.
