Carrie was one of Mom's good friends. They lived in Louisville, Kentucky in 1945 while working in a munitions factory. There was three of them: Carrie Rooks, Edna Alley and Mary Bryant.

Carrie W. Brown, age 80, of Hamilton, passed away Saturday January 11, 2003, at Hillandale Nursing Center of Hamilton. Carrie was born February 5, 1922 to the late James Milton and Rachel (Roberts) Rooks in Adair County Kentucky. Besides her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Albert, on February 23, 2000. She was also preceded in death by four brothers, William, Welby, Charlie and Ednell Rooks; and three sisters, Mattie Floyd, Lettie McElroy and Betty Rooks. Surviving are two sons, Alton (and Joyce) Brown of Alton and James (and Kathleen) Brown of Hamilton; a brother, Elvin Rooks of Louisville, Kentucky; a sister, Lena Brown of Louisville, Kentucky; three grandchildren, Michelle Schexnayder, Jason Brown and Mason Brown; and two step-grandchildren, Lucas and Atticus Boyd. Funeral services will be held at Kowalk Funeral Home - Rosehill Chapel, Wednesday at 1:00 p.m. Friends may call Wednesday from 11:00 a.m. till time of the service. Burial will follow in Rosehill Burial Park.
